Now that I look back, Aviemore Youth Hostel, is the best hostel I’ve been throughout my trip. It’s where everything was clean, super functional, there was a huge lounge space to chill, with big windows to look at bunnies and crows chilling, and there were the most interesting people I’ve met or seen.
There is a little walk that starts from the hostel through Craigellachie National Nature Reserve to get to a viewpoint. The weather is not great, but the sun is pointing its nose a few times and the colors in the trees are just stunning. This dramatic weather can be interesting for pictures too. Again, I hiked with my oversize rain cape, sticks and stones may break my bones… At the top it was very windy, and rainy, but worth it. On the way back I met a family from Inverness who gave me some tips on what to do there, and two ladies with 2 border collies, one of them wanted me to throw him a stick, cutie.
After a little picnic at the hostel, I go to the tourist info VisitScotland to ask for hike suggestions for the next day. Still in a mindset to always do more… I decide to walk to Loch An Eillein. Beautiful sights along the way again, some deers and cute houses. By the end of the day I admit I have walked a lot, if not too much.
